What to Expect From Your Personal Trainer

The Personal Training Environment We Want to Avoid

As I scroll through Instagram, I realize there is 1 narrative or story that is predominant about personal training. Usually it looks like someone with very little body fat, yelling at someone with more body fat, in an industrial environment, saying things like, “earn that dessert!” and, “no pain no gain!”

So I wanted to write a detailed description of what to expect when you come to Portland Integrative Fitness. Because I promise that will never happen here.

Getting Started With Portland Integrative Fitness

First you’ll start with a one to one consultation with Me, Gina, the owner, or one of my trusted CPT’s on staff. This is my favorite part. Its where we get to LISTEN to you. What are your goals? Why did you seek coaching to get to those goals? What is the underlying WHY that drives you to reach those goals? What have your struggles been? I love connecting with clients on a deeper level, and really understanding their journey so I can effectively identify the sticking points and coach you through. My goal is that you leave feeling truly seen and validated.

Correcting Movement & Developing a Training Program

From there, I’ll write you a custom program to correct any dysfunctional movement patterns and build a strong foundation, or take you to the next level of fitness. We’ll customize your plan to get you where you want to be, whether that’s faster on the soccer field, more spry playing with your kids, walking without knee pain, or feeling proud and confident in your body. We can program for any ability, any age, EVERY body.

Once your program has been written, we’ll meet for a private 1-on-1 session to teach you your exercises. You’ll have a chance to ask questions, video and make notes, and leave feeling confident you’ve made the right decision to work with us.

Now you have two options: You can either join our semi-private sessions, where you do your custom workout at the same time as a couple other members, or we can meet for 1-on-1 sessions. The semi-private sessions are a great way to save money, and meet a wonderful supportive community.

Creating a Warm Training Environment

Our fitness studio is warm, like a yoga studio. There is no toxic gym culture here. Just regular folk who want to move better. We don’t use before and after photos to shame you. We understand that this is lifestyle, not a quick fix or threat to your happiness in exchange for unbalanced rigidity.

I promise, and our other members and testify to this, that after working with us, you’ll love being in your body. It IS hard work, and it takes accountability, consistency, and time, but I’ve seen amazing transformations, I’ve seen goals met, and I’ve seen the smile in peoples eyes when they’ve earned that goal. You can do it too. See you soon.
